How to enable notifications on a shared document in OneDrive
If you're collaborating on a shared file in your OneDrive storage and want to be notified when someone makes changes, you can set up an alert to receive notifications for document edits.
This feature is not directly available in the modern OneDrive interface, so you'll need to switch to the “classic” view temporarily to configure the alert. To return to the modern view, log out of Microsoft 365, close your web browser, reopen it, and log back into Microsoft 365. If OneDrive remains in Classic mode, try clearing your browser's cache to resolve the issue.
Important: You can only set up alerts for shared documents stored in your own OneDrive. If a document was shared with you by someone else, you'll need to ask the owner to create the alert in their OneDrive and include you in the “Send alerts to” list.
Step 1: Log into your OneDrive and click on the settings Cog in the top right, then click on OneDrive settings:

Step 2: Click on Return to classic OneDrive:

Step 3: Click on the Settings Cog again and choose Show Ribbon:

Step 4: Locate the file required and select it using the checkbox next to the icon and file name:

Step 5: Click on Files at the top, then click on Set alert on this document under Alert Me:

Step 6: Configure the alerts as required:
